Updated 10/30/2012 to include books up through Chapter 11 of Chamber of Secrets and to add links to all moments.
Books are a tricky thing to account for on Pottermore. Books you collect and purchase show up in one of of three different places on your profile: books, potions or spells. Each of the tables below will tell you a total for each of these sections and has a column showing which location the book in question will show up in. I have, however, still put these in alphabetical order as they would appear in your trunk.
In Philoser’s Stone there are 3 spell books, 1 potions book, and 15 regular books. In the first four chapters of Chamber of Secrets there are 1 spell book, 1 potions book and 14 regular books. So at the end of the first eleven chapters of CoS you should have 4 spell books, 2 potions books, and 29 regular books.

I have a book that you don’t have on here. I don’t remember where I found it but it’s called “Nature’s Nobility: A Wizarding Genealogy.”
I’m missing one book from the most recent set of chapters. Is it the one at the end that was glitching? Also, how many badges are there? I have 5 so far. Got the Galleon one, and it looks like I’m missing a second “Read About” one.
Same here, people have 6 badges and i only have 5. They say the Book of Spells is in the restricted section so that we can get the 6th badge, but as of the moment — nada.
Go to Book 1, Chapter 12, Moment 1 and there you can collect Book of Spells from high up the back wall of shelves.
can’t find Book of Spells! Pls be more detailed as to where it is!!!
I also have one you do not have listed… “Great Wizarding Events of the Twentieth Century”. I’m not sure where I found it though, I just noticed it when comparing my trunk to your list…
New books from the last few chapters arent up here yet. This only goes to chapter 4.
“Magical Drafts and Potions” is not present in my trunk but the Book Shop says I’ve already bought it.
That one shows up under your Potions menu instead of your trunk.

You caught me online.
. These others are “Spell” books and appear under spells. It makes tracking your books a bit of a nightmare.
Sweet.
And that’s annoying.

Standard book of spells 1&2 will be under your Spells menu.

Curses and Counter curses shows as still locked in the library, but when I go to the Christmas moment, I see it at first, but then it disappears wen the page loads. I checked in Potions, and I apparently already have the book. Is this unusual?
Curses and Countercurses appears twice in the story now, you have the one on this list, but I suspect the one showing up locked is the one from this list of unlockable info from JK Rowling.
Ah, found it. Kind of anti-climactic…not the most exciting new revelations I’ve read.
So, there 15 books in my trunk. I guess the one empty slot is usless
I don’t know why the books have that slot. I thought I was missing one for the longest time!
Please edit this page. Instead of having “IN TRUNK – YES NO”, it would be better if it looked like this: “STORED WHERE – TRUNK, SPELLS, POTIONS”
I had also thought maybe the ones not in the trunk should just have a seperate table. There aren’t many of them.

Yes. Just the one you purchase in Diagon Alley.
