This morning, Pottermore quietly went down and came back up with some changes. The biggest of these being that they added five more bits of unlockable “New from J.K. Rowling” information to the first book. More subtle was the return of friend locations on the Pottermore Gateway and the reversal of the tab order on the Common Room and Great Hall comment boards. I am particularly glad for the latter, as it had slowly became tiresome having to click on “Comments” EVERY time I refreshed in the Common Room.
Pottermore gave a vague statement on Twitter about the update, and did not bother to post anything on the Insider, instead the link in the tweet simply takes you to the Pottermore home page.

New clickable books can be found in all three moments in the first book that took place in the library. Below you will find a table describing each books location and links to the library it is in.
It actually took me a while to find all five. I don’t even want to admit to you how long I spent scanning shelves in the Harry Becomes an Outcast moment. Finally I relented and asked in the common room about the last missing book. (Thanks Midnight Nettle!)

It’s not a LOT of new information, but it was a request from a lot of users to be able to read some of the books and I think they were using what little writing Rowling had given them on the subject to give us something to hunt for again.
It worked, kept me occupied for a couple of hours searching book shelves like Hermione.
What do you all think of the changes? Or are we all just waiting for Chamber of Secrets to open?

I find all 15 books, but i can’t go on Chamber of Secrets. and: “You can now visit the library and read excerpts from selected books.”

HUGE thank yous for the help finding these books. I could read the content by clicking the links at the end of the chapter, but it made me crazy that I couldn’t find them. Even with the instruction, finding the transfiguration one took me forever!
I had the same experience with that book! I ended up asking in the common room and then it still took me a bit to find it. Makes you really feel like you earned it though!

I think it may be glitched for me because I’m unable to find the books in those locations, even using the visual guide I wasn’t able to find them.
Try switching browsers. Chrome gave me hell trying to get two of them. Had to keep refreshing.

I found Transfiguration which opened info to read about Transfiguration. But I was unable to get the actual book. Is it one you can collect? I only have 14 books so I’m trying to figure out which one I’ve missed. I thought it was Transfiguration.
The books on this list unlock info but do not go in your trunk.
Changing my name to my Pottermore name.
I am still having problems finding Transfiguration. What do you mean by “focus shelves”? There are so many different shelves here.
I am stil having trouble, I already have curses and counter curses in my spells section but I cannot seem to unlock the new material, i have been back to all the librarys but nothing is ‘jumping’ out at me
please help I would really like to read this new material

It’s very high on the back wall near the window in the scene listed in the table. Move your mouse over books until it glows purple.
Curses and Counter Curses appears twice now. Once in the Great Hall where you collect it for spells. And once in the library where you click on it to unlock new info from Rowling.

Thanks for the shout out Elm! You’ve helped me and others so much, glad to return the favor! I must admit, like you, I spent about an hour or more searching for these tricky books, so it was good to have something NEW to do. Still wish they’d open the Chamber already, but at least if they would do little changes like this more often in the meantime, we might not all go braindead with Fullbodybind, fullbodybind, fullybodybind…. brew….. answer the same old questions for bazillionth time….. etc.
